  We Are

The presence of pigeons in the city where I live is prominent. Sometimes I wonder which of their movements are intentional and which are beyond their control. These pigeons were domesticated by humans long ago and have since been left to their own devices over time. Now it seems that they can no longer live according to their natural instinct, nor have they adapted to the new order of life; they belong to neither of these conditions. The similarity between the life of these pigeons and the lives of humans in our own society is what led me to choose this subject. The more I explored, the more similarities I saw, and I became more determined in my choice of subject.

In the time between creating my previous collection and this one, I have witnessed many changes in my surroundings, which have found their way into my work. Through my interactions with the pigeons, I realized that they only begin to move when light is cast upon them. In “We Are” I am the director who makes the pigeons move by casting light or creating darkness.
