Symbols We live in a world of symbols. In Shia Islam, the mourning rituals for the event of Ashura have become a platform for the emergence and expression of a symbolic language, manifesting in various forms of rituals, melodies, designs, and objects. This language and symbolic world have become part of our collective memory and experience. For as long as I can remember, I have been captivated and mesmerized by the beauty and enchantment of the objects and items used in the ceremonial rituals of Ashura. I would spend hours immersed in the meanings of their symbols and forms. This passion inspired me to explore them in depth, leading to the creation of this collection. By juxtaposing and representing symbolic objects such as banners, inscriptions, Alam (standards), Panje (hand-shaped symbols), and steel birds, I sought to create these works.
