An embrace is the act of holding another’s body and soul within the space of two arms, pressing them close to one’s chest. To hold and to keep. An embrace is the discovery of the other—a body lived, with its scars. An embrace is healing, and yet it is fraught with helplessness. One cannot pass through what is pressed upon the soul, cannot erase another’s wounds in an embrace, cannot heal another’s pain with one’s own existence. Thus, one must inevitably let go… And death is letting go—moving away from the embrace. You cannot hold someone in your arms unless you know how to let them go. An embrace is to take the body in, so that it may be released. For living, for growing anew from wounds and souls… Life… is staring death in the eye and choosing to live.
