Our Thousand and One Nights
Once, the visual identity of this land, cast aside and exiled, found refuge in a decorative realm—surviving through stylized motifs on fabrics, tiles, and carpets. What remains with us today are fossils of creatures that once possessed movement and life. Inspired by Iranian mythology in miniature painting and Persian literature, I have also drawn on the atmosphere of traditional puppet theater and shadow plays. This influence has shaped the mechanisms and choice of materials for this collection.
Through the interplay of forms, I have sought to arrive at a new visual perspective, where the realm of stories and characters emerges at the boundary between objectivity and abstraction. The tales and narratives revealed themselves only in the final stages of creation, much like an actor in a play who slowly and gracefully steps out of the darkness toward the audience, gradually unveiling their face.
And now, here stands the storyteller of Our Thousand and One Nights.
